Bliss Quintet has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling young voices in Norwegian jazz. Blending explosive ensemble playing, adventurous improvisation and deep musical trust, the band creates a sound that feels both fiercely energetic and remarkably open.

Drawing inspiration from legendary Nordic groups such as Atomic and Masqualero, Bliss Quintet combines dramatic horn arrangements, complex rhythmic interplay and expansive harmonic landscapes with a strong emphasis on spontaneity and collective interaction. Their music constantly balances precision and risk — moving fluidly between tightly constructed motifs and free-flowing improvisation.

On their fourth album In Motion, released through Jazzland Recordings, the band expands its sonic universe even further. Synthesizers, flutes and textured atmospheres add new dimensions to their already powerful expression, while repetition, silence and gradual development are given greater space alongside the group’s signature drive and intensity.

What truly defines Bliss Quintet, however, is the chemistry between the musicians: a sense of close listening and shared momentum that gives every performance an unmistakable feeling of presence and movement.
